Cheer on the Panthers & Show Support for Refugees

Posting Date(s)

This Friday, February 3rd, the UPEI community is invited to come out to the Panthers' home basketball games not only to cheer on the UPEI players, but also to show solidarity for refugees.

UPEI's World University Service of Canada (WUSC) Committee is hosting the evening! Women play at 6pm and the Men at 8pm.

So far, through WUSC's Student Refugee Program, the UPEI WUSC Committee has sponsored 24 students from refugee camps. The program allows the sponsored students to become permanent residents of Canada and complete their postsecondary education while being supported by fellow university students. The committee members are looking forward to sharing some of the things that they have learned and increasing awareness of refugee issues.

The purpose of the event is to build a supportive community, create connections, and share ideas on how to continue helping those who have been forced to leave their home country.

We hope you will join us!
