Department of Biomedical Sciences Special Seminar: Dr. Fred Colbourne
Everyone is invited to a special seminar delivered by Dr. Fred Colbourne titled "Intracerebral Hemorrhage: Challenges in Neuroprotection and Repair." Dr. Colbourne is a professor at the University of Alberta and a Canada Research Chair in Intracerebral Hemorrhagic Stroke.His research focuses on experimental treatments for ischemic and hemorrhagic brain injury. He has studied therapeutic hypothermia since the early 1990s starting in rodent models of global ischemia. Presently, he is evaluating this treatment for intracerebral hemorrhage. He also studies a number of other treatment strategies (e.g., rehabilitation) in his translation-oriented research.
