It's not too late to register for the North Atlantic Forum!

Posting Date(s)

There's still time to register for the 10th North Atlantic Forum, Building Community Resilience, hosted by the Institute of Island Studies, September 16-19, in Summerside. The program includes close to 70 presentations by researchers and community members from across Canada and around the world looking at how rural communities use their local resources to build healthy and resilient communities. For more information and a full schedule, check out http://pei2015.crrf.ca/.

The conference kicks off with a free public event Wednesday, September 16, at 7:30 pm, at Summerside’s Harbourfront Theatre. A “fireside chat” with Dr. Kelly Vodden and Dr. Sally Shortall focuses on the effects of globalization on rural communities. The formal part of the evening concludes with the launch of a book stemming from the North Atlantic Forum 2011, held in St. John’s: Place Peripheral: Place-based Development in Rural, Island, and Remote Regions (ISER Books, Memorial University), as well as a special journal issue of the Scandinavian Journal of Hospitality and Tourism, arising from the North Atlantic Forum 2013, held in Holar, Iceland.
