As part of our ongoing tree pruning, maintenance, and inspection program, we have detected Dutch Elm disease in one of our elm trees on campus; this elm tree is located in the Main Quadrangle. Unfortunately, this tree has to be removed and properly disposed of immediately to help avoid the spread of the disease to other elm trees. This removal is scheduled to take place on Saturday, July 18, 2015. Two (2) trees will be planted to replace the removed tree, in either the existing location or at a new location on campus. While the contractors have been instructed that the work be executed with the least possible interference or disturbance to the campus community, a certain amount of disruption is inevitable.
