Echo Lau to perform solo piano recital, May 16

Echo Lau, a recent Alumna of the UPEI Music Department, returns from Ottawa to present a solo piano recital at the Dr. Steel Recital Hall, UPEI Campus, on Saturday evening, 7:30 pm, May 16.
Tickets will be available at the door: $15 adults, $10 seniors and students.
Echo Lau, a native of Hong Kong, immigrated to Canada in 2004. During her school years she studied piano with Frances McBurnie and went on to the University of Prince Edward Island where she completed a Bachelor of Music degree in 2013 studying with piano professor, Dr. Frances Gray.
Echo has represented PEI at the CFMTA National Piano Competition and several times at the National Music Festival after being the recipient of many top awards for performances in the Queen's County and PEI Provincial Music Festivals. She performed the Ravel Piano Concerto with the PEI Symphony Orchestra as the winner of the Suzanne Brenton Award. Echo often accompanies other musicians and has played for the UPEI Choir and as chief musician for some Kings Playhouse productions. In addition to her piano performances she has also played violin with the PEI Symphony, the Singing Strings, and the Strathgartney Chamber Orchestra. In September 2014 Echo received a generous two-year scholarship from the University of Ottawa to pursue the Master of Music degree in Piano Performance, At present she studies piano there with Professor Andrew Tunis and accompanies the Calixa-Lavallée Choir.
