Mental Health First Aid for the UPEI Campus

Posting Date(s)
The UPEI Department of Student Affairs is pleased to offer training in Mental Health First Aid. Developed by the Mental Health Commission of Canada and taught by one of our counsellors, “Mental Health First Aid Canada teaches first aid skills to help someone who is developing mental health problems or is experiencing a mental health crisis. Anyone can benefit from learning mental health first aid.” The 12-hour program will be taught on consecutive Fridays, November 28 and December 5. To optimize learning opportunities, enrolment will be capped at 20 participants – we will be offering another course in the second semester and groups/departments wishing their own offering are welcome to contact us to make arrangements. Cost for the course is $50 – this includes 12 hours of training, program manuals, coffee and two refreshment breaks per day – participants will be free to make their own lunch plans. This program is open to all UPEI staff, faculty and students. To register, or for more information, please contact Krystal Mayne at kmayne@upei.ca or at (902) 566-0488.
