AVC Presents Community Workshop About Pets and Cancer - May 29

Posting Date(s)
Like humans, pets can be affected by a variety of cancers. Many types of cancer in animals can be treated, and some can be cured. Dr. Pierre Amsellem, a small animal surgeon at the Atlantic Veterinary College (AVC), will discuss pets and cancer during a community workshop on Wednesday, May 29, from 7-8:30 pm in Lecture Theatre A. Dr. Amsellem is a diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons (ACVS) and an ACVS Founding Fellow in surgical oncology. During the workshop, Dr. Amsellem will discuss the causes of cancer in pets, prevention and detection of cancer, and new diagnostic and treatment options. He will also talk about the goals of treatment and quality of life issues affecting pets with cancer. Everyone is welcome. Admission is free, and refreshments will be served. This workshop is part of the 2013 AVC Community Workshop Series, presented by AVC Friends and Family, the college’s community-based volunteer organization.
