Join Shane Jones, ScotiaMcLeod Chief Investment Officer for a presentation titled "Energy, Canadian Dollar, and Interest Rates," on Monday, March 9 at 3:00 pm in the Alex H. MacKinnon Auditorium (room 242), Don and Marion McDougall Hall.
Shane has been in the financial services industry for over 25 years. Shane brings a strategic mind-set to portfolio management; he has a proven track record as a portfolio manager and is a respected and familiar face in the industry, regularly visiting investment advisors and financial planners across the country. Shane is regarded as an expert in the financial services industry and maintains strong relationships with the sector’s leaders and innovators.

The Human Biology and Environmental Sciences research seminars continue on Friday, March 6 at 12:30 in the Duffy Science Centre, room 204 with graduate students Julia McKenna and Travis James presenting the following talks:
Julia McKenna MSc (HUB) – supervised by W. Montelpare will present "Head Games: HRV and CAS TEOAE as tools in concussion evaluation," followed by Travis James MSc (ESC) – supervised by M. van den Heuvel, who will present "Halibut in the Gulf of St. Lawrence: Following the Fish."

Come chat with John about his experiences and listen to his story on Wednesday, March 11 from 6:30 – 8:00 pm in the Campus Life Lounge, Student Affairs, W.A. Murphy Student Centre.
Watch and discuss slam poetry (competition where people read their poems without props, costumes, or music) online on Wednesday, March 11 from 2:30-4:00 pm in the Campus Life Lounge, Student Affairs, W.A. Murphy Student Centre. Discover how this art form can be used to talk about mental health. All are welcome to attend.
Open Class Day will be taking place Friday, March 6 from 9:00 am - 4:30 pm (Storm Date March 20). Visiting high school students will have the opportunity to attend sample lectures and sessions throughout the day in various areas of arts, business and science. Incoming first year students will also have the opportunity to register for classes in the afternoon. We know this can be overwhelming for students, so we ask faculty and staff to be there to support students during this time of transition. To facilitate this, we are inviting faculty and staff to join us at any time through out the day, particularly during the registration sessions from 12:30 - 4:30 pm. When collaboration successfully occurs in the workplace, you feel positive, productive, and willing to face any challenge. This session will teach the key elements of teamwork and provide the opportunity to practice collaboration-building techniques.
This session offers helpful strategies to:
*Understand emotional reactions and what their underlying causes may be.
*Discuss human motivators and ways to address them for increases collaboration.
*Identify relationship-building strategies.
This training session will be held on Monday, March 9, 2015 from 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm in AVC Learning Commons, room 286A North.

Staff and faculty are invited to be a twitter champion during UPEI's Mental Health Week, March 9-13.
Champions are provided with clear instructions, support materials and information and resources. The commitment requested is to post at least one tweet per day, for each day of mental health week. Last year we had over 150 people tweeting and we generated over 750 tweets. It all started with a core of champions from students, faculty and staff. Help us get the word out. Help us kick-off Mental Health Week with a keynote presentation entitled: Our Story, by Mr. Darin Meek, on Monday, March 9 at 1:30 pm in McMillan Hall, W.A. Murphy Student Cenre. Stick around for an exciting announcement from the UPEI Student Union!
Darin’s daughter, Chalyce, would have been a third-year university student this year had she not lost her battle with anxiety and depression. On January 13, 2012 Chalyce took her own life at the age of 17. Listen to her family’s story and how they, through support of each other and support from family, friends, and the community, have moved forward. Darin’s inspirational story will show us all how we can help one another in making our Island community a healthier and more supportive environment by taking action in addressing mental health issues and breaking down the stigma.
This event is free for UPEI students, staff, and faculty. Complimentary refreshments will be provided.
