The deadline to apply for the 2014 Dr. Tim Ogilvie AVC Vet Camp is Friday, March 14, 2014. Campers take part in an educational adventure like no other at the national award-winning Dr. Tim Ogilvie AVC Vet Camp. One of only a few in North America, AVC Vet Camp provides an exciting and educational look into the world of veterinary medicine. Students enjoy a week filled with science, animals, and fun. Junior camps (grades 7-9) are scheduled for July 7-11 and 14-18; senior camps (grades 10-12) are scheduled for July 21-25 and July 28-August 1.
Tuition is $390 (+14% HST) and covers educational materials, labs, field trips, lunches, a camp backpack and scrub top. Find out what being a veterinarian is really like!

UPEI vocal majors Olivia Barnes and Jillian Clow will take to the stage for a joint junior recital on Sunday, March 9 at 7:30 pm at UPEI's Dr. Steel Recital Hall. Barnes and Clow will be accompanied by pianist Frances McBurnie. Admission is free and an eclectic mix of pieces await, including Mozart, Barber, Copland, Handel, Offenbach, Schumann, Schubert and Monteverdi. All are welcome to attend!

Dr. Brian Wagner, professor of chemistry at UPEI, will lead a discussion entitled “The myth of the chemical-free beer.” The event begins at 7 pm, Tuesday, March 4 at The Pourhouse, above The Old Triangle Irish Alehouse in Charlottetown.

The event will be held in the Lecture Theatre, Main Floor, Regis and Joan Duffy Research Centre, from 9:00 am-3:00 pm. Lunch will be provided to registered participants in the adjacent meeting room. In recognition of the outstanding performance of our faculty and staff and their dedication to students and community, a number of annual awards have been created to acknowledge their efforts and achievements, and to celebrate their contributions to our success as an institution.
Up to 10 Presidential Awards of Merit for UPEI Faculty and Librarians and four Presidential Awards of Merit for UPEI Staff will be awarded in 2014 and presented during a Celebration of Colleagues to be held on Wednesday, May 7, 2014 from 2-4 pm in McMillan Hall, W.A.Murphy Student Centre.
Ryan Johnston, Director of Human Resources will lead the process and chair the committees to select award recipients. Nominations for both faculty and staff awards close on March 28, 2014.

Dr. Melanie Buote, Department of Pathology and Microbiology will present a seminar called "Histologic and metabolomic investigation of Bitter Crab Disease in Atlantic snow crabs (Chionoecetes opilio)" on Tuesday, March 4 at 3:30 pm in AVC Lecture Theatre C. Everyone is welcome.
Human Resources, in partnership with Murphy's Pharmacies, will be hosting an information session on The Science of Medication & Customized Medication Options - Gain a clearer understanding of medications and how they work in your body . This session is the second in a series of Healthy Campus Sessions taking place over the coming months. The session will be held on Friday, February 28 in Andrew Hall Rm 142 beginning at 1:00 pm.
