Background: | These scholarships are established through the estate of Eileen Fulford (nee McMillan). Eileen (McMillan) Fulford was born on September 17, 1944 in Charlottetown and passed away on March 28, 2009 at the age of 64. Eileen lived life to the fullest. Throughout her life, she held many professional and volunteer positions including nurse, teacher, volunteer and philanthropist. Eileen enjoyed various athletic endeavors and was considered one of PEI's best senior women golfers. Eileen was the second oldest of six children of Eileen and Dr. Joseph McMillan. After graduating from the University of Ottawa School of Nursing, Eileen studied for a master's degree at the University of Western Ontario. Upon returning to Charlottetown, she taught at the PEI School of Nursing. In 1978, Eileen moved to Peterborough, Ontario, to teach at Sir Sandford Fleming College, where she became head of health sciences. She returned to Prince Edward Island in the mid-1980's with her husband, the late George T. Fulford III. Eileen devoted much of her time to volunteer work related to breast cancer, for which she received national recognition. She will be missed by many and remembered with great affection and respect for the many lives she changed through her philanthropy and volunteer services. |
