Background: | Miss Jean Auld was born in Charlottetown in 1885 and died in Vancouver in 1979. She moved to Colorado as a young girl and completed high school in Colorado Springs. She graduated with honours in Classics from Colorado College in 1908 ad was a member of Beta Sigma Phi. After graduation she taught school and then attended the Pratt Institute of Art in Brooklyn. She returned to Canada, completing her M.A. at McGill University in 1922 and also attended commercial at school in Montreal. She taught Classics and Art History at Reed College in Oregon and at the University of British Columbia. In later years she was a Latin Correspondence Teacher for the Province of British Columbia. Throughout her long life she never forgot her ties with PEI and provided funding for a student award in Classics. |
