| Background: | Melinda was a member of CUPE 1870. Melinda began her career at UPEI in 1978. She worked at switchboard then moved to athletics, business office, and procurement. Melinda was active in the community particularly her church, K-ettes, and the Cornwall Curling Club. In December 2004, Melinda lost her yearlong battle with ALS and died at age 56. In her memory, CUPE Local 1870 has established this award for a UPEI student through an annual donation. |
