| Background: | Dr. John Barrie was originally from Ontario and attended the Atlantic Veterinary College, graduating in the first class (AVC 1990). He was therefore a classmate and good friend of Dr. Scott McBurney. John was keenly interested in wildlife, aquaculture, and outdoor activities. He drowned in a kayaking accident in 1991. His family and friends established "The Dr. John D. Barrie Memorial Scholarship" in 1992. It is presented annually at the fall AVC Recognition Night. |
