Background: | This award has been created in memory of Alan and Gail Brady by their sons, Michael, Jeffery, and Gregory. Alan earned a Bachelor of Commerce degree from St. Dunstan's University in 1964. He then moved west to Edmonton, AB to pursue a career with the Hudson's Bay Company. He later started his own business as a manufacturer's agent for several furniture companies. In 1978 he moved to Saskatoon, SK and became the representative of Sklar-Peppler furniture for Saskatchewan and Manitoba. Gail grew up in Charlottetown, attending Queen Charlotte High School and Prince of Wales College. She earned her R.N. from the Prince Edward Island Hospital School of Nursing in 1963 where she made many lifelong friends. After working for a year at the PEI Hospital, she married Alan and moved to western Canada. Gail worked at the Edmonton General Hospital for several years before resigning to focus on raising her sons. Alan and Gail retired and returned to Prince Edward Island settling in Stratford. They were active in their church and on many committees and clubs and rekindled and developed many friendships, old and new. Alan passed away on December 13, 2022, and Gail joined him shortly thereafter on January 21, 2023. They are lovingly remembered by friends and family. This endowed award will be granted in perpetuity as a legacy memorial to Alan and Gail. |
