Background: | Jean Elizabeth Balsom of Summerside, PEI (1929-2023) was the wife of the late James A. Balsom. She was born in Errol, New Hampshire, daughter of the late Walter and Louise (Stewart) McKenna. She was the cherished mother to Barry, Ian, and Kendall, and loving nanny to Adrian, Fawn, and John. Jean was known in all her many circles of friends as kind and generous with her time and talent, always ready to volunteer and entertain to help in her communities. She loved the outdoors, never missing an opportunity to swim or paddle in a canoe. She loved to laugh, smile, and spread kindness and is dearly missed by all her family. Jean was educated at Prince County Hospital in Prince Edward Island and was an accomplished and compassionate nurse. This award is created by her son, Kendall, and her grandson, Adrian, to continue the legacy of his mother. |
