Description: | Granted to an undergraduate student who is normally resident in Canada; is in full-time study in the Faculty of Sustainable Design Engineering, Business (business administration), or Faculty of Arts (majoring in economics); and is in the greatest financial need. Preference will be given to a student normally resident in British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, or Newfoundland and Labrador. |
Background: | This award was established by Hugh McDonald in memory of his father, Patrick Joseph McDonald, BBA '93 at UPEI. Patrick (B.A., B.B.A., M.B.A. and P.M.P.) of Ottawa was a Registered Member, in good standing, of the Project Management Institute (PMI): Certified Project Manager, Business Analysis and Information Technology Management Profession who had a long and successful career, and who played a major part in many successful Government of Canada projects. He holds advanced Degrees at the Graduate Level, and an Executive M.B.A: Strategic Management from Queens University at Kingston. Mr. Patrick McDonald had spoken internationally on the use of information technology to support government international and domestic policy and regulation by the United States Department of Commerce and the Ukrainian Government. He worked for three Prime Ministers' Offices and two Clerks of Privy Council Offices over his decades-long career. He was also the recipient of many awards for his volunteer, professional abilities and community involvement. Patrick passed away on October 14, 2023. In honour of his contributions to family, volunteerism and his profession, his family has established this award. |
