Description: | Beginning in the spring of 2022, this award will be granted to a student in their fourth year of the DVM program who has demonstrated perseverance and resilience under difficult circumstances. The recipient each year will be recommended by the AVC Awards Committee and approved by the Senate Committee on Scholarships and Awards. |
Background: | This award is being established by the AVC Class of 2021 to recognize a graduating student that embodies the spirit of their class and shows resilience in the face of adversity. The Class of 2021 is no stranger to adversity, having to adjust very quickly to new ways of teaching and working due to the COVID-19 pandemic. They faced unprecedented challenges ranging from having to suddenly adjust to online learning and rotations to dealing with travel restrictions and two-week quarantine periods.
