Background: | Born in Shediac, New Brunswick, James (Jim) Bateman spent his life working in the fishing and dairy industries. Prince Edward Island held a special place in his heart. Through his work, he built lifelong friendships with generations of Islanders. Jim took a particular interest in supporting students pursuing careers in agriculture. For many years, Jim offered summer employment to students on his family farm. He was an early supporter of UPEI?s development of expertise in lobster science and aquatic research. |
