Description: | Granted each year to a third or fourth year student who is normally resident in Atlantic Canada and has an interest in health management in the primary sector (ecosystem and public health management, terrestrial and aquatic animal production). |
Background: | Dorothy Forsythe (nee Andrew) and her husband, Dr. Robert Forsythe, have a long history with PEI?s institutes of higher learning and its broader community. Dorothy and the Andrew family farmed in East Royalty for several generations, and both Dorothy and Robert (1923-2014) attended Prince of Wales College. Their son, Dr. J. Andrew Forsythe completed his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree at UPEI?s Atlantic Veterinary College. The Forsythe family has an impressive medical background. In addition to Andrew's DVM, his father and sister, Pamela, and brother-in-law also acquired their medical degrees. In recognition of her family's strong farming roots in Prince Edward Island and links to university, Dorothy Forsythe established this scholarship. |
