Description: | Granted to five students involved with New Student Orientation at UPEI: award categories include Most Outstanding Leader, as well as individual awards for School Spirit, Care of Others, Leadership, and Attendance. |
Background: | These awards were created to support Incoming Students and Student Leaders participating in New Student Orientation at University of Prince Edward Island. Criteria: To be eligible, students must participate in NSO. The five award categories are: The NSO Award for Most Outstanding Leader would be selected by peer vote, with recommendations coming from Point People (Captains), to award a Student Leader. In the event of a tie, the Point People would make the final decision between the tied individuals. The NSO Awards for School Spirit, Care of Others, and Leadership (3) would be selected by peer vote, with recommendations coming from Student Leaders to award Incoming Students. All students who receive a vote will be entered in a random draw to determine the final award recipient. Each vote equals one chance in the draw, so the more votes that an Incoming Student receives from Student Leaders, the higher the probability that they will be selected for the award. The NSO Award for Attendance would be selected based on attendance records that will be taken by Student Leaders at NSO events, to award an Incoming Student. In the event of a tie, each individual's name would be entered in a random draw to determine the final award recipient. NOTE: Students are not able to win more than one award in the same year; in the event that a student is selected for two awards, a second name will be drawn to determine individual recipients for each award. In the event of an inadequate number of votes or recommendations for one award, the NSO leadership team (including NSO Leader and Point People) shall hold a vote to determine the final award recipient. |
