On Thursday, May 11, six student teams pitched their business concepts for a share of $50,000 in prize money from the Harry W. MacLauchlan Entrepreneurship Program during the UPEI Panther Pitch Competition. The competition for entrepreneurial undergraduate students is coordinated each year by UPEI’s Experiential Education Department.

The Honourable Graydon Nicholas, a highly respected Wolastoqey Elder, lawyer, judge, social worker, and activist, will give a presentation titled “Inculturation in the Indigenous Context and Catholic Church” on Thursday, May 25, at 10 am, in Don and Marion McDougall Hall, Room 242, University of Prince Edward Island.

Reilly Sullivan, a fourth-year biology student and varsity athlete at the University of Prince Edward Island, has been awarded a 2023 3M National Student Fellowship by the Society for Teaching and Learning in Higher Education (STLHE).

Prince Edward Island author Deirdre Kessler will launch a new children’s chapter book, Adventures of an Island cat named BRUPP, on Sunday, May 21, at 2 pm, in the Carriage House, Beaconsfield, 2 Kent Street, Charlottetown.

Dr. Laurie Brinklow, an assistant professor of Island Studies at UPEI, will give a seminar titled “The Bridge Effect: A Case Study of Prince Edward Island, Canada, with some implications for Gozo” on May 24, from 11:30 am to 1 pm ADT.

Patients as people first, 3D-printed spinal surgical drill guides, ant-inspired robots, PEI’s retention of international graduates, and patient-reported experience measures for IBD were the focus of complex thesis research presentations delivered in three minutes or less by UPEI graduate students to a riveted audience on April 25.
