The Department of Music at the University of Prince Edward Island invites applications for an 8-month term position in Music Theory. Responsibilities will include the instruction of core courses in music theory. Additional teaching duties based on the strengths of the successful candidate will be assigned, so the ability to teach in other areas of our music curriculum – such as Composition, Applied Woodwinds, World Music, Ethnomusicology, Popular Music, Jazz, or Indigenous Music – would be a strong asset. In addition, the successful applicant will be expected to contribute to service within the department, including assistance with the department’s recruitment and outreach activities.

Qualifications:

The successful candidate will hold a doctoral degree in a relevant area of music (or be close to completion), with at least a master’s degree in Theory or Composition; demonstrate commitment to excellence in undergraduate teaching; and provide evidence of scholarly and/or creative achievement.

Salary: Commensurate with experience as per the Collective Agreement of the UPEI Faculty Association, Bargaining Unit #1 (https://files.upei.ca/agreements/2022-2026_upeifa_bu1_final.pdf). This appointment is subject to final budgetary approval.
