The University of Prince Edward Island has a vibrant conference and accommodations operation during the summer months, and we would like you to be part of it! From May through August, we open our doors to thousands of visitors from all around the world. Our Residences turn into a successful hotel-like operation, which provides accommodations and services for a wide variety of conferences, tourists, and sporting groups. We also offer meeting space to various groups from on- and off-campus. We strive to provide the best customer service to our clients, while proudly representing UPEI, Charlottetown and Prince Edward Island.

We are looking for energetic, customer service-oriented people to join our summer operations team. Housekeeping is the heart of our operation, making sure room facilities are clean and well stocked for guests who stay at UPEI. You will be part of a larger team that knows how to have fun, works hard, takes pride in their work, and provides great customer service.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Reporting to the Assistant Manager of Housekeeping and Building Operations, the Housekeeping Supervisors will be responsible for leading their respective teams to ensure:

  • Cleanliness of bathrooms, kitchens, living areas, and sleeping areas
  • Deep cleaning rooms at the beginning and end of the summer
  • Changing bed linens and stocking rooms with towels, amenities, and toiletries
  • Laundry services
  • Removing garbage and items from rooms
  • Ability to spot and report maintenance issues
  • Maintaining a neat and tidy work area
  • Maintaining confidentiality and professionalism
  • Maintain accuracy and efficiency
  • Maintaining inventory of supplies
  • Ability to use cleaning equipment such as floor scrubbers, steamers, etc.
  • Maintaining all health and safety standards

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience in the hospitality/housekeeping industry considered an asset
  • Grade 12 plus, 3-5 years of supervisor experience
  • Ability to train new employees
  • Ability to perform physical work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to lift 25 lbs / 11.5 kgs
  • Ability to work with and properly use cleaning chemicals, WHMIS (training provided)
  • Positive attitude, energetic, courteous, and attention to detail
  • Ability to work well within a team environment
  • Must be willing to work a flexible schedule, including weekdays, weekends, holidays, and some night shifts
  • Bilingualism not required, but considered an asset
  • First Aid/CPR Certificate not required, but considered an asset
