Governance

The University of Prince Edward Island is constituted under the University Act, a statute of the province of Prince Edward Island and is governed by a bi-cameral model of governance, with a Board of Governors and a Senate.
 

Board of Governors

The Board of Governors, as vested by the University Act, holds the responsibilities of conduct, management, administration and control of the property, revenue, business, and affairs of the University.

The Board delegates the daily management of the University to the President and Vice-Chancellor and Senior Administration.

Senate

The Senate is responsible for the establishment of the University’s academic policies and programs and for making recommendations to the Board of Governors on the University’s academic administration and development.

Chancellor

The Chancellor of the University is a volunteer, titular role that presides over convocations and confers degrees, diplomas, and certificates.
