Background: Dr. Barbara R. Campbell is many things to many people and organizations - she contributes to her communities in a myriad of ways. A mother of four adult daughters, Dr. Campbell holds a PhD in Nursing, is a professor at UPEI, director of UPEI's Webster Centre for Teaching and Learning, and most recently has been appointed as the advisor for international relations to the President of the University of Prince Edward Island. Barbara's involvement in the community is significant. She has volunteered with - and been a spokesperson for - the Heart and Stroke Foundation and the PEI Multicultural Council to name only two. She is currently a member of the UPEI Board of Governors, appointed by Senate. In recognition of Dr. Campbell's widespread contributions, the Senior Women Academic Administrators of Canada have selected her as this year's recipient of the SWAAC Recognition Award. This award - and accompanying $1000 is given annually to a SWAAC member who has continually demonstrated innovative leadership in advancing the mission of, and achieving outstanding contributions to, their institution and/or to higher education. Dr. Campbell has requested that the $1000 resulting from this award be donated to UPEI to support a worthy student. This continues Dr. Campbell's history of giving back to her students, family, university and community.
