| Background: | This scholarship was created as a companion memorial to the Prince Edward Island Service Memorial Fountain in Queen Square. Scholarships will support students who are family members of those who have served and have themselves volunteered service to their community, province and country. The Prince Edward Island Service Memorial Fountain located in Queen Square, Charlottetown, commemorates the service of Prince Edward Islanders in Canada's Armed Forces in the interest of peace and security in our nation, both within our borders and around the world. It also recognizes the service and sacrifice of police and peace officers who maintain law and order, and members of our fire service who protect our lives and property. |
