Description: Awarded to a Food and Nutritional Science student studying in the UPEI Integrated Dietetic Internship.
Background: This award is initiated by Kevin Lewis, BBA '86, in tribute to his parents the Honourable Frank and Dorothy Lewis of York, PEI. Dorothy Lewis has been involved in extensive volunteer work with her community, with her church and with organizations like the Alpha York Women's Institute, which she joined more than 50 years ago. A tireless volunteer, Dorothy has given her time and energy to the CIBC Run for the Cure, the QEH Auxiliary, the United Church Women and the Women's Institute. She was also an entrepreneur, creating and operating several successful tourism-related ventures with her husband Frank, including the Stanhope Ice House and Vacationland Travel Park, which the Lewis family operated from 1968-1985. She was inducted into the Order of Prince Edward Island in 2006. The Honourable Frank Lewis began his broadcasting career at CFCY in 1966 and continues as a senior advisor with NewCap radio. Frank has received numerous awards during his business career and in 2006, he was inducted into the Canadian Broadcasters Hall of Fame. In recognition of their tireless community service the Honourable Frank and Dorothy Lewis Scholarships have been created to support UPEI students who contribute to PEI through volunteerism.
