Description: Awarded to a student receiving a Bachelor of Music degree from UPEI who intends to pursue his or her music education through graduate studies.
Background: The only daughter of Winfield Chester S. McLure and Lottie Evelyn (Burhoe) McLure, Miss Lean McLure was prominent in Island music circles as a teacher. A graduate of the Toronto Conservatory of Music, she also studied at Boston University. Miss McLure also wrote a society column for The Guardian newspaper for a number of years. She was born in Charlottetown and died in Toronto on February 15, 1992. Miss McLure left a legacy to the University of Prince Edward Island supporting three awards: W. Chester S. McLure Memorial Fellowship, Mrs. W. Chester S. McLure Award, and Miss Lena McLure Award.
