The Department of Psychology at the University of Prince Edward Island is inviting applications for a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level with primary responsibilities in our new Doctor of Psychology (PsyD) program (http://www.upei.ca/programsandcourses/doctor-of-psychology ) in Clinical Psychology; some teaching in our undergraduate program will also be involved.  This position is subject to final budgetary approval.

Qualifications include a doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology with a strong commitment to applied research and evidence of a productive research trajectory (e.g., publications, funding). We are looking for a candidate to develop a leadership role in teaching and research supervision and support of PsyD trainee clinical psychologists. Therefore, a track record of success in teaching and research is essential. The candidate will also be expected to build their research programme in a relevant applied area of their choosing and ideally to forge links with researchers across a broad range of disciplines at UPEI. The successful candidate must be eligible for registration as a psychologist within Prince Edward Island.

The PsyD program will welcome its first cohort of students in September, 2019, and will make application for accreditation by the Canadian Psychological Association as soon as eligible.  The program will be infused with a critical lens, promote methodological pluralism, and be focused throughout on integration of theory, research, and practice across individual and cultural diversities. As such, the applicant will be expected to facilitate trainee research in quantitative and qualitative domains. Experience in research supervision and/or published research employing each of these methodologies would be an asset. The applicant will be expected to teach courses addressing research design and advanced statistical techniques, and to promote the development of research competence in clinical psychology trainees.  Importantly, the candidate will also be expected to guide a small cohort of students through the research process, contributing to high quality dissertations.  This is a unique opportunity for a successful candidate to make a major contribution to training clinical psychologists enabling them to excel in research and practice. 

The University of Prince Edward Island is a small-medium sized campus (full time student enrollment is approximately 4,600) and therefore offers unique collaborative opportunities for the successful candidate.
