Tenure Track Position - Applied Communication, Leadership, and Culture Program
Contract:

The Faculty of Arts at the University of Prince Edward Island welcomes applications for a tenure-track position at the assistant professor level in the Applied Communication, Leadership, and Culture program, with a cross appointment to the English Department. The successful candidate will have expertise and leadership potential in Applied Humanities (including Digital Literacy), with additional specialization in Professional Communication and Public Speaking. This position is subject to final budgetary approval.

The Applied Communication, Leadership, and Culture (ACLC) bachelor’s degree is a new interdisciplinary program designed to connect the communication skills and leadership training of a Liberal Arts education to successful post-graduation employment. The ACLC program is defined by its focus on the transferability of written, oral, and visual communication skills, critical thinking, and cultural awareness acquired during a Liberal Arts education to the world beyond academia. Technical skills, work-integrated learning, and career-related mentoring are central components of the program’s design.

The ACLC program is interdisciplinary, with strong connections to other Faculty of Arts subject areas. Outside of ACLC, the primary connection for this advertised position is with the English Department, which offers Honours, Major, and Minor degrees in English Literature.

The successful candidate will have a completed doctoral degree in English or a related field of applied studies; a strong record of success in teaching at the undergraduate level; and a strong record of innovative research achievement appropriate to this level of appointment. Workplace experience in relevant sectors outside of academia will be considered an asset. Salary will be determined according to rank and experience.

A complete application must include the following: a cover letter outlining how the candidate would contribute to the ACLC program, a curriculum vitae, a teaching dossier (including a statement of teaching philosophy, sample syllabi and course materials, and teaching evaluations or other evidence of teaching success), a research statement outlining current and future research projects, including links to, or copies of, key publications, and a media portfolio (if relevant). Candidates should also provide names and contact information for three references.

Applications should be addressed to:
