The Faculty of Arts invites applications for the position of Sessional Instructor to teach Arts 1050-1 in the 1st summer session (May 14 - June 25) of 2019. This blended face-to-face and online teaching assignment involves an internship initiative which will be guided throughout by the Instructor. This position is subject to budgetary approval.

Arts 1050-1 Policy Hack Internship: Design. Build. Change

This course will build in scaffolding of professional skills, opportunities for student reflection on learning, student accountability measures, and compensation of student time and effort in the form of course credit (3 semester hours).

Registered students will be placed on a multi-disciplinary team of professionals, largely public servants working in various sectors in PEI. A 3-hour in-class session will be conducted at the beginning, middle, and end of the internship to facilitate student readiness for the internship and a reflective learning cycle. Course readings and assignments will scaffold student participation in the internship as a contributing member on a team of professionals and will provide opportunities for meaningful reflection.

The internship itself will run for 6 weeks, including: 8-hour launch day, regular team meetings (scheduling at the discretion of each team), 3-5 hours of independent work each week, and 8-hour case competition day. Students will be expected to participate in the full program of events associated with the Provincial Policy Hack; any scheduling conflicts with be considered on a case by case basis.

Tuesday  6:00 - 9:00 p.m.

Qualifications:

Successful applicants will have experience designing and delivering experiential learning curricula as well as a minimum of a Master’s degree in Adult Education, Counselling or a related discipline.
